A healthy anemone does not split anywhere near that often.
usually a split is due to stress, poor or changing conditions, very common to a new tank which sounds like may be the case.
Anemone's are an animal that lives 50-100 years or possibly more, they do not need to reproduce often.

That's the general consensus, and some may claim indefinitely.
If they are in poor conditions or stressed they will split or bud and send a clone in search of better conditions in order to continue.
This is true w/ BTA's and occasionally we'll see a magnifica split, though that's much more rare than BTA.
It's very typical new params of a new tank will induce a split, but a healthy nem will not continue w/ excessive splitting, once a year or less is common w/ a healthy nem.

mine must be siamese twin BTAs, they split and decided to remain bosom buddies side by side.

Not much room to run!
Sometimes it's just the shock of new params, and sometimes they look like they are about to split and then don't, possibly as they adjust, possibly as tank adjusts.
Pretty common to get a split right away w BTA's and then not anymore, or not for a long time.

Thanks for the info.
I finally decided to try my hand with anemone. Got two BTAs 3 weeks apart, and they haven't budged from where I initially placed them in the tank 3 months ago. I guess I must be doing something right.

Certainly a good sign, though out of all host anemone's, while BTA's seem most popular and forgiving, also have the worst rep for wandering, sometimes after a long time after staying put for reasons not obvious to us, so if they do it may or may not have anything to do w/ you or tank.
Excessive splitting another story, and many are fooled because we usually see animals reproducing in captivity as a sign of success.
I see this often, tanks doing great, my nem splits every few weeks!

Talking about nem on the move.............I seriously hope one of mine gets out from its current spot soon because it's getting waaay overcrowded with xenia.

Most corals they touch will be harmed, but to your benefit xenia seem to be impervious.
There are nems that do give at least what I want, stay, be colorful, my particular fav right now is magnifica, given an island up high towards light w/ good flow and stable params and they pretty much stay there.
Malu are a good sand dwellar that come in naturally bright colors, and stay smallish, 8-10", another good option for mixed reef and easier to keep than mags or gigs.
LTA's are a little bigger and not as bright, but still good color, stay at sand, another good mixed reef option, but many do have luck w/ BTA's, hopefully yours stay where you want.

Same here. I've had mine for almost 2 years and I thought something was wrong that it hasn't split yet.

Are you sure they just split when they are stressed?
I must have the most stressed out anemones on the planet. In an otherwise healthy tank when some sps and lots of lps, my 2 originals have split into 14 over two years. About 8 months ago I stopped feeding them..only one split since.
Gave 8 of them away. They are all doing well.

Of course they do not ONLY split when stressed, but excessive splitting, more than once a year is most likely a stress issue, and that could even be from what or how often you feed.
It's a known trick among those propagating nems to encourage a split by overfeeding them.
