Anemone wont cling to rock.

I just bought a pink tip Anemone at the LFS. I have it in my tank and Im wondering what methods I should take to get it to stick to my live rock.

Also is there anything special that I should know about this anemone?? It was an impulse buy. Will it differ in any way from my rosetip?

u can cut off the flow and let it catch on wait about half n hour then turn them on see if that works hopefully it stays there

Dont turn off the flow. an anemone will attach in an area that has proper conditions for it including flow. a condylactis is not a host species of anemone, but some people say they have had one host clowns. I have also heard that they can eat clownfish.

well ive had the flow turned off for over an hour. the anemone isnt attaching to the rock. The rock is in a perfect place.. If I have the current running the anemone will just roll away and under a huge mountain of live rock that I have. And it would most likely stay under there and not attach and eventually die under there.

Any other suggestions?

What i do is look for a hole in the rock and just stick it in the hole, just "press" hold it with your finger for 10/20 seconds and it always sticks to itself by them. Or just make a cave with 2 rocks put the anemone in between it and with a other stone ( not on top of it but uhm next to it so its kinda stuck between the rocks ) If it doenst wanna be their the anemone can get out of it but it just helps to get it stick to something.

This all works for me, but my new anemones are just as lazy as i am and just dont wanna move..... we both love the setup i think thats what i call teamwork hehe :D :love1:

yeh, i have the flow turned off. But Ive been using a turkey baster to squirt air in the water to get it oxidized. Ill try trapping him between some rocks and see what happens there.

You dont have a hole or something ? Or use a long glass just put it in their. You can just put your flow on, and your anemone has nowhere to go, and still gets all the lighting and fresh water it needs. ( only no flow but then it should attached itself and walk out of it...

Goodluck, keep us posted

These suggestions are all wrong. The anemone is going to go where it's happy with the flow, lighting, and water conditions.

1) If you turn the pumps off and it happens to settle, turning the pumps back on will change the conditions, and chances are it will unattach again.

2) Pressing it against the rock or into a hole is only going to stress it and probably damage it.

3) Leave it alone, don't touch it, and it will find a suitable place (if there is a suitable place in your tank).

2Addicted has given the only useful advice in this thread in my opinion.

Turn your pumps on, and let it find a place on its own.

Judging from your member date, your tank isn't that old. Anemones do much better in more established tanks with pristine parameters.

How old is your tank? What type of lighting are you using? What are your water parameters? What size tank? What are you using for circulation?

Handling it and forcing it into a spot will only stress, damage, or kill it. Just let it be.
