Tank is 240 gallons. your standard pc coral life one is 36in with total of 96watts the other is 48in around 136 watts I think. never had corals and the clowns are true percula. the tanks is two years old.
tink399, you have 232 watts total of pc lighting/240 gallon tank = 0.96 watts/ gallon. Far too low for a Nem, even a BTA. You will need to boost that lighting to more like 4-5 watts/gallon. PC is ok, but T5s or MHs will help your Nem to thrive.
i wouldnt say youd need that much light for a BTA but something closer to 2wpg.
maybe 2x250w MH and make your rock work so the nem can get as close to the lights as it needs to but yes the pc is probably just not enough to support a anemone.
but yes youll want to gain a little experience keeping photosynthetic corals softies then try some lps so you can get used to having to feed them. once you feel you have keeping corals down id say your ready to give a BTA a try and if you can get a clone from a fellow reeefer this will help you out alot youll be able to find out its normal behavoirs and what it likes to eat and youll know its healthy.
