I've had about 7-8 clone rose bubble tips anemones in may tank for over 5 years. I've begun to notice that they are not looking robust anymore and are shrinking from 4-6 inches to about 3-4. Some are even smaller.
I'll confess that I've been remiss in testing. Based on the rbas and a similar problem with some mushrooms, I bought a new test kit and discovered that by nitrates are way too high. Almost everything in the tank, except for those specimens mentioned, look good.
Are anemones overly susceptible to nitrtes? (I'm in the process of making a series of 30 gallon water changes -- total tank volume is about 300 gallons.)
Thanks for your input.
