Anemone's death from powerhead

Hey guys im new to this reef forums.

So i had an anemone in 8 month old tank. i had the anemone about a month. One night when i fell asleep he/she decided to float around in the tank but the next day the anemone eventually got caught in the powerhead and just got killed by the blade. The tank was all cloudy and and the fish looked fine.

That day i just did a 20% water change. Day by day fish have been dying except for my green chromis and the water cleared up.

Its been three days and im wondering if its ok to add more fish?

fyi im thinking about doing a 50% water change along with that replacing carbon and filter.

Before adding anything to the tank I would do the large water change and allow your tank to re-stabilise. I would keep a constant check on the water parameters until everything reads normal.

Have all the fish died or are they still dying? Do the water change and the carbon change and wait before you add more fish. There isn't a big rush to get fish back in the tank, is there? Why take the risk. Give the carbon a chance to do it's job. Maybe consider another 20-25% water change a week later and then add one inexpensive fish to test the water.

Hard to test for anemone toxins. I can't say I've ever seen a test kit for that. :lmao: And as long as he pulled the dead fish out in a reasonable time frame, other water parameters shouldn't have been affected very much if at all.

thanks for an opinon. so i did a water test at the fish store and it seemed like everything was great. all nitrate, nitrite, ammonia were down to zero. and ph was perfect. so i just added a green chromis. and after 2 days its seems lik everything is perfectly fine. all fish are eating well showing signs of breathing well. gonna wait for a week more to add more fish and do a 5 gallon water change again just in case.
