Anemones eating venomous fish.

Has anyone had an anemone eat a venomous fish? If so, what happened?

I have a gumdrop coral croucher, I'm thinking of adding to my display tank. It's probably not going to happen though. When you keep large anemones like I do, losing a fish is always a possibility. While I don't like it, I can live with that risk. I couldn't deal with losing one of my anemones because it ate a venomous fish though.

What are your thoughts? Would you risk it?

I don't think it would harm the anemone. Other fish eat venomous fish all the time with no ill effects. I would think it would be fine, unless the anemone was injected by the spine. Anyways I would try to find out the toxicity of this species, I'm just not sure as I've never kept these

Thanks for the responses. After careful consideration, I've decided against it. While I think this fish would make a really cool addition to my display, I just can't risk it harming one of my anemones.
Thanks again

I had a mag foxface that, I think, got old, and or sick (no outward signs other than behavior change :( ) It was about 6-7 inches or so long. Anyway, it disappeared, and I looked for it for about 30 minutes in a 180 because I didn't want it's body to decay and muck up the tank. Anyway, surprisingly, I couldn't find it.

Days later, I saw what I thought was a filimentous sponge near my haddoni, and went to manually remove it. It was hard. Then I saw the skull with long foxface snout. I am pretty sure the haddoni ate it.

Not sure if the haddoni stung it, and it got away but the damage was done, then it died. Later to be eaten by the nem. I doubt it though, as there were no marks or discolorations on his body. I think he got sick/old (he was more than 5-6 years old) and died, and the nem got the benefit of it.

Anyway.. nem seemed fat and healthy afterward, and it's been about 6 months or so.

Thanks for the input. Sorry about your fish though.:(

I still keep going back and fourth about adding this fish. It's such a cool fish, and it would make a great addition to my display, but I'm nervous. It will probably happen some day when I get the courage.

I'm planning to downsize, and a pair of crouchers is on my stocking list. Like you... the nem poses a danger, but, I'm willing to try it. I figure a nice little rubble strewn area, and the crouchers are likely to stay put.

The problem is, getting the crouchers!! :)
