Anemones in a new tank?

Why is it that they need such an established (at least 6 months) to be able to thrive in a reef tank?
If you were to put one in a fairly new tank that was able to keep its water params pretty stable, wouldn't do fine, or is there something that i don't know.

This is just my opinion on it, and I know that other feel different....

Mainly it is so that you are "used" to your tank and how to maintain it. It will take a newbie a while to figure everything out, and how to know ahead of time if something is "off" with the tank before it becomes a major issue. Anemones are too sensitive to take that type of chance on. In addition, there is more to a tank being stable than the params that can be measured.

I agree, anemones are far to sensative to put into a tank that is new and still fluctuates with its perams, yes a tank should be older and mature for an anemone but so should the caretaker

because when you start you think you know it all, but you don't, heck I've been doing this for almost 5 years and I think I am just now getting to where I feel confident enough to let my girl take care of the tank for a weekend without fear that it might crash without daily care while I am gone.

anemone in a new tank is equivelent to a death sentance, we say it because it is true...we've been there, we've killed anemone's when we were irresponsible newbies and we hate to see others make the same mistakes...you found RC, now take the advice, I didn;t even know RC existed until 8 months in, so you have a head start over me when I started

Well, my tank now has 2 and they are just fine. They have been in there for many weeks and are healthy and growing. I think high quality water is more important than how old your tank is.
