Anemones in my outdoor tank!

They kind of look like mullet to me.

Good call.. 2 dorsal fins. They are definitely mullet... Sorry for everyone else. That means they are going to eventually be too big for most peoples tanks. I have the advantage of being able to just throw them back in the ocean when they get too big. Which in my tank will probably be about a month. :( I wonder if they are in the tide pools all year round, or if this is a seasonal thing?

They are OUTSTANDING algae eaters. My rocks look brand new. The sun had initially covered my rocks and sand bed in brown, hairy, algae. These little guys cleaned it perfect. They even clean the algae off from the shells of the Astreas. :)

I wanted to do one. Just to try it. I'm sure it will be no problem for most of the year, but even with the huge chiller, I'm still a little nervous about the summer when it's pretty much 100 degrees outside all the time. If I have to move it inside then, I will... Hopefully not though.

Everyday the anemones are getting bigger and bigger. The color is turning the deepest pink I've ever seen. Almost a bubble gum color. I think they look awesome!

Nice tank!

Don't release your mullets back to the ocean when they outgrow your tank. They might carry some disease that they've caught from your non native fish that might effect other species i they get out. Better to turn them in to fish/nem-food.

Very cool, nice looking tank!
I'm amazed algae is not out of hand, but the little fish maybe be helping as well as snails I guess enough to make it work, sounds like a great stroke of luck that is what you caught.
I know mullets are strict vegetarians.
I would be careful stating how you came across them, don't want to get in trouble.

Mullets can legally be caught to use as bait, at least in Louisiana they can. I'd think others states would be the same. I grew up in Louisiana and fished all over. I sure do miss the fishing there. :sad2:

they are legal to catch in florida as well. I am not just sure they are mullets it is hard to tell , I am used to much bigger one when I fish lol.
awesome thank!!!
