Anemones Spawning

Can anemones spawn? When they do, do little anemones just pop up all over the tank? How does this happen? How often does it happen and what causes it? Can somebody give me lost of info on anemones spawning?

I had one of my Haddonis spawn -- It has only happened once in the 3 years that I have had it. This is just a theory, but I believed it was caused because of stress --- while I was in the hospital my main pump failed (( I believe 2 days before I was released )). I managed to get a new pump, and that night it spawned. (( My parameters did get a bit out of whack. )).

In my case I would have needed a female Haddoni in there to either "catch" sperm and fertilize the eggs internally or to release the eggs at the same time. I have another Haddoni in that tank, and it didn't act any differently. This happened about 3 months ago and haven't seen any additional anemones.

Here are some of the pictures I managed to take of the act,

And lastly a FTS that shows how cloudy the tank got from it. Can see my green Haddoni on the right hand side, showed no reaction to this.

Todd, did the water temp rise when the pump failed?
My controller (as programmed) recently increased the temp to 81 in my reef for the summer months. I am wondering if the that encouraged my haddoni to spawn last weekend.

I currently have 1 BTA and 5 RBTA in my tank, so since there is probably both males and females in the tank they could spawn and make baby anemones all around the tank?

I know that the temp changed. When I got home from the hospital the tank temp was around 71* (( heater and temp probe are in the sump )) and the salinity was 1.030. There was one day while I was in the hospital that was warm -- high 70's low 80's -- and I know that my home A/C wasn't on. So with the lights the temps could have spiked --- if the pump had already failed that day.

That is the kicker about this, there were a few changes that happened in a few days that could have triggered mine, and too many to try to reproduce.

Although spawning events of E. quadricolor happen often, mine do a few times a year, sexual reproduction seems to happen much less frequently. I think maybe Charles Delbeek successfully spawned some at the Honolulu aquarium, but I'm not sure about that.
