Am I lucky or am I in trouble????
I got this Anemone from one of the Paul form this forum and after a day this is what it did.
I got the clown fish and their Anemone from Paul, I got the clown one day and the Anemone the next, it was a exciting to see them get together again, and after a day the Anemone split(so I think and hope)

My question: is this normal?
and if normal does it mean they are getting a divorce and they are splitting everything 50/50? each clown has its own Anemone
The original is the one on top(must be hers, it has a better view)

all joking aside, the Anemones are about 4 inches apart now(new meaning to separate beds,Even in the fishworld she gets half)

Thanks everyone
This saltwater thing is been more fun than expected(for now)

I believe that anemone's can be 'shocked' into splitting, whether from water changes, etc.

I am just trying to remember off the top of my head, so I could be wrong on this.

If they split, and both seem full and happy, then bonus on ya!

Yep, they often split when stressed out. And I imagine it was pretty stressed out. When I got home sunday night it had been in a bucket a while, I believe. It was probably around 65 degrees in the bucket. I warmed the water over a period of an hour, then put it in a tank with another anemone and clown. That clown decided to host in the new anemone while it was there, and then it was taken to jesus' house the next day. I'd say it was stressed! But they should be fine. Very cool buddy!

Yes, it'll be fine. To be sure, in a day or two, you might gently feed it some mysis or brine. Use a turkey baster to squirt food onto it. If the clowns choose just one of them, I'd feed the other one occasionally too.

I notice the clowns have chosen both, they trade places on been with the 2 Anemone, I have a domino Damsel that is been trying to steal this new Anemone from the clowns but the clowns team up on the domino.

Tanks with overflows work pretty well also for splitting BTAs :)

I occasionally find a small piece of an RBTA in my sump that was split off the larger ones in the main display. When the BTAs roam they occasionally get close to the tank overflows and its pulls a piece off the BTA. They form into tiny RBTAs after a few weeks.

Yeah, I had read part of that before. And I've heard a lot of controversy over fragging anemones. But when I think of them splitting because of stress, I figured it took several days or weeks for them to form complete new halves. That's great!

LOL, I wish my ex had let me take my half of the anemone when I got divorced, lol.

Congrats on the split, Jesus! I am glad that they are doing well and that the clowns are happy.

I would agree on stress being the cause of this split. However, they should likely be fine. BTA are a REALLY good choice for a first anemone. They are the most hardy around, almost easy IMHO. I would also agree that feeding them some Mysis, Enriched Brine, etc, right now is a very good thing.

Btw. A comment on propagation of BTA. I have heard suggested by Anthony Calfo that BTA can practically be surgically cut in half once every two weeks, assuming the environment is healthy and they are being well fed.

Anyhow, just a couple comments...
