I bought my bubble tip anenome last week. I placed him on very top of the rocks and has yet to move. It took him about 30 minutes to expand fully. Its the size of the baseball.. And he was looking very healthy from day one.

The problem started yesterday, I feed a small piece shrimp around 2pm and he ate it very quickly. Around 7pm, he shrunk up smaller than a golf ball. I was closely watching him and saw that he had digested the shrimp. After 30 minutes from when I noticed him, he fully expanded and was looking healthy all night.

He was looking very good before I left for work today and I came home at 7:45pm to see him shrink up again. I understand that they shrink up to flush out waste and such but he just looks bad.

This is my first time owning a BTA and it just seems awkward to see them in this state. Please let me know if this is normal or not.

His mouth looks to big like a 1/4 the size of it's whole body.

My water parameters are in check. All levels shows 0ppm.

My light consist of a 150w sunpod over a 10g.
AC110 in to fuge

Again, please let me know if this is normal. I have only seen him shrink up yesterday and today.

I think he will be just fine. How long has your tank been set up and running. Putting one of those in a 10g is not a good thing to do. Its even pushing it in a 25g.

Thanks for the quick response. My tank has been up and running for over a month.

50% of water from established tank and 10lbs of fully cured rock. My cycle was done in 6 days. Everything has thrived in my tank including corals such as candy canes, zoas, octopus frogspawn, and cabbage coral.


I hope he's alright......... I am damn worried... I hate to see anything die

You really should wait at least 6 months before adding an anemone. Go read up on this site.

Well, too late for that. The BTA is in the tank and I've read many threads and including Anenome FAQ on this site stating an anenome can be kept after one month.

Any other inputs on the BTA's behavior? tHankss...

yah don't worry about the 10g, he will be placed in a bigger tank once he outgrows it.

Shed some light since you know all so well....

anyway back to the BTA shrinking.....

Sounds like normal behavior.
