Angel Reef

Wow you have a beautiful reef! I love the coral placement, the stage on the right are wonderfuly placed. The small red frag of smooth skin acro looks like it has a few suspicious white spots on it just in case you didn't notice. If that piece grows out with green polyps like the parent colony it's going to be a stunner! Waiting for the next FTS :)

Nice gigantea!

Need some ferocious clowns to keep your other fish out of the anemone....

Hopefully, the S.gigantea is healthy and doesnt give you any troubles. Since you're able to get locally collected anemones like that, I'm assuming you dont need to treat them like we do here in the States and especially here in the Midwest.

Just out of curiosity, what are you feeding your Regals?

Trade trade trade... Do you like french wine? :)

Stef <= official french wine trader of RC

Stef,

I do not discriminate and will drink wine of any nationality :lmao:

I am not a nem fan, but I know them electric blue ones are a bit hard to come by That is a monster, and so colorful, great score Looks like things are really taking off, I am sure you are stoked! Next time you break out the camera, I would love to see the full tank. Cheers!
I am currently doing construction works on the LHS of the tank so it is a mess, once finished will do a FTS.

OrionN Great. A Gigantea and a pair of clown fish in the future for sure. Great tank[/quote said:

thanks, yes some nice picasso or snowflakes would be good. Gigs are hearty in Aus but cost 5-10 times the price as they do in the states!!!!
Regals are fed a mix of brine, mysis, brine spirulina and flake. They arent ferocious eaters yet hence purple tang is still in the sump.

Beautiful deep blue gigantea!
Love it!
Thanks Matt, its acutally deep purple, but hard to tell in the pic.

Depending on the size, that S.gigantea would go for about $350-$500 USD here in the Midwest.
Being a blue gigantea is what increases the price. Finding them healthy out here is the trick.

I've had two Regals in the past, both took right about a year to get into the aggressive eater mode....it's like they are not smart enough to figure it out until a year in.

I lost my last one about 2 years ago and just ordered a yellow belly juvenile which should be arriving the middle of next week.

We'll see how well that one does. I've already got a QT set up and some good dither fish to get it acclimated along with and teach it to eat in captivity.

Man, I still remember the bad rap when you cut that Blue Gigantea. Before we start to use antibiotic to treat Gigantea, there is less than a handful of healthy Gigantea here on RC in the states. I myself looking for Gigantea, any color for 10+ years. I only able to keep Gigantea since 2012 or so. Seeing you cut up a Gigantea was just too incredible to believe.

Your Blue Gigantea, that nice color would cost me about 3-400 US dollars here in Corpus Christi.

A blue/purple one this size in aus retails for $3500-4000

Agree regals are pretty stupid fish lol they are like the derek zoolander of fish - incredibly good looking and stupid

Good LORD!!!!!

Hope yours does well at that price. Why are they so expensive when they are native to Australia?

Good LORD!!!!! is right.

What is the law there on collecting for your home use? Lewis was taking pictures of Gigantea on the beach in Darwin, Australia. I am sure you can find a spot somewhere to collect your own, if it is legal.

They are rarely found. lucky if a dozen are offered per year. Also red line cleaner shrimp range from $100 to $150, also native.

collection requires licence and huge fines without. The standard dull greens from Darwin retail for $300-400. Also Sydney is over 1000 miles from the reef, so even if were lucky enough to find one would cost similar with airfare, etc.

Looking good ryan, hows the Regal Angel going, nipping on any polyps?

He's ALIVE, hey john how you been??? Regals have occasional nip but more of issue is the multibar biting the trachy - think i need to decide do i want trachy or the multibar???

Awesome pic ryan:inlove:
Can't decide what i love the most in it!
But if you put a gun in my head:p,probably the mature look, like the guys said!

Do the angels nip?
They look amazing!
