Angel stocking question

When reading about large angels, specifically pomacanthus species, it is recommended not to put more than one angel in the tank at all. Can one pomacanthus be combined with other angel species such as centropyge, apolemichthys, or genicanthus???

You have countless options IMO. You could do multiple Poma or Holacanthus angels in a tank of that size. What is in the tank currently and what do you have in mind for the future?

Just filled it with water. Haven't placed the live rock in it yet. Planning a FOWLR. Have a sailfin &hippo tang, racoon, semilarvatus, and a heniochus butterfly, and a harlequin tuskfish in a 200 gallon going there when ready. thinking of an angel or two, maybe a blond naso tang, and a wrasse.

Sounds like an awesome set-up. Pick any 2 angels you like...If it were me I would introduce them together and as similar sized juviniles. Make sure the live rock is somewhat established, it sounds like it would be as it is coming from another tank.

I have Passer, Emperor, and Asfur in my 240. If you were asking my opinion, I would do Emperor and Queen in yours. Lime Green Wrasse (T. Lutescens) would make a great addition to that set-up, I love mine.

Good advice. IMO & IME, the timing of introducing angels is as important as tank size. Expect some pecking order stuff at times; but probably shouldn't be serious. I've kept all sorts of angels together for many years. I've had to do a few time-outs (my fault); but never had a situation that didn't resolve itself. I think a lot of the warnings are directed at people trying to keep an Emperor and an Asfur (or similar combo) in a 55 gal tank.

Queen Angel in a FOWLR for sure.

Most established angels will be aggressive towards new angel additions. BlueLines aren't known for being aggressive and territorial but when I added a young adult Emperor it totally flipped.

True, a good reason to add a juvi rather than an adult. IMO, there is less threat to the established large angel and the juvi can hide easier. But, I'd never buy an adult large angel anyway---they usually aren't nearly as hardy as juvis and you miss the cool transformation.

Not to mention the reason for angels having the juvenile coloration is so they can settle and live in the territories of adults without eliciting aggression.
