I have a Singapore Angel,and it stays around my soft coral and LPS,however I can't say it has eaten anything.It gets well fed 4 times a day ,in an attempt to keep it's appetite in check.

I have had multiple Potters Angels throughout my reefing experience and all of them have done very well in mixed and SPS dominant systems. Very little nipping was ever observed. PE did decrease slightly with some of the angels, but only slightly.
I did have a Multibarred angel for about 3 months that loved SPS polyps. He never ate prepared foods either.

In my 210 mixed reef: Flame, Cherub, Navarchus and Emperor. All have been in there for years with no problems except the Emperor. No problems from him, not even curiosity about the corals but he hasn't been in there as long as the others so I'm not as confident with him as I am with the others. But he's worth it.

The guy at the LFS said that the Emperor, Queen, and the Blue face angels were the worst. And that they will always end up eating sps

Emperor is next to the Regal as far as being the safest. I have not had any issues with Blueface Adults, the juveniles are killers of SPS. I tried two and both destroyed SPS. Queens are not safe long term

Nice read, wish they would have said more about the feeding schedule for the angels.

I have owned several angels (dwarf only) over the years and my experience has been this: Be sure your tank has good algae growth already present. Feed often and feed a varied diet of prepared foods and your fish will not get overly hungry. If your fish stay well fed they will have less interest in going after corals and if you are housing more than one angel in your tank it will reduce the amount of aggression between them as well. Others on this thread have stated that it's a 50/50 chance at best that Angels will go after your corals and they are absolutely correct. There simply is no way of knowing if they will or will not because EVERY fish is different regardless of species. I have not owned some of the larger Angels so really can't comment on them.

Every fish is different, but you can make some generalizations based on the species. It's not correct to say angels are 50/50 - some species have much better odds, and some much worse. It's not a sure thing, but I'd take 80/20 odds over 20/80 any day.

My little regal angels go after green paleys and likely also other zoas. SPS are largely safe though the occasional nipping has to be expected. One of my regals also seems to be way too interested in my favia.
All in all I would say they are safe, but like with all grazers you have to accept that there might be occasionally nipping of polyps, either intentionally or accidental.
You also can never completely exclude the possibility that one day they develop a taste for one or all corals and start eating them. This is most likely when you don't feed them enough - and they may need a lot food to be happy: my two 3 inch regals can eat a load and a few hours later be hungry again.
