Im looking at acquiring an antennarius nummifer and was wondering if anyone has had experiencing keeping an angler or if you know of anywhere I can get some information

thanks

A friend of mine had one. They are extremely docile, pretty hardly, can and will put anything it can fit in it mouth, and doesnt require a large amount of space. Only keep one with tankmates significantly larger(at least 3 times it size or larger, preferably larger, as Ive seen them eat fish 3x their size). If you are planning on gettin one for you cube, Id recommond its the only fish you keep in the tank.

well I wasn't planning on keeping it in my cube, but it will be the only fish I know the basics I think but am having trouble finding any detailed care on them. seems like everyone just gives very general information, but thanks for your advice

Get a copy of Reef Fishes, Volume 1 by Scott Michael. It has a great chapter on anglers. I've kept them for several years, very cool fish. Keep the water very clean, temperatures below 80, not too much flow, vary the diet. It may take a while to train to frozen. Some species make better display specimens than others. I like A pictus and A antennarius. A striatus and A hispidus are nice, but get around 7-8 inches. If you want a less expensive one that is very cool, get a Sargassum fish (Histrio histrio).
