Announcement and ideas/questions

thats a bit high st.louis guy! (that rymed!)

we had our wedding off season at a nice banquet hall in st.charles.
it was less then $35 per person.
open bar of course.
the dress was less then $500. (and it was a big fancy one)
we got an 18 passanger esca-zine and it was 900.
i don't remember many other price details.
i'd say it was worth it. we got to share a great day with all of our friends and family and made some great memories.

I agree, without knowing details its hard to gauge, but my good friend is a florist and she tells me prices all the time. Weddings IMO only are a waste of money. You can have more fun and enjoy the day with your friends better if you have a party when you get back from the honeymoon and have an intimate family wedding

Also is adds up.

200 people at $35 a person $7000
Dress $ 500
Tux rental ?
Gifts to the groomsman ?
Gifts to the bridesmaids ?
Auto in your case $ 900
Flowers $1000+

Even stopping there without the unknows its at $9400 and you said offseason. At another 20% for in season (spring/summer) and you are at $11200

There are so many things to pay for with a wedding. Reception would be cheaper also

We are currently looking for a new day to have this thing. Our date allowed only one choice for possible hall rental and it was looking to be said and done around 7-8K. Way to much in my book and hers (shes a winner). Her parents really just want us to have a nice day. I explained to them that we can have a great day in a cheaper place, they still seem reluctant.

7-8k just for the hall and reception right? Wait until you see the flower bill

Nothing wrong with getting married by Elvis on the strip

My wife and I were both married before and both had done the big weddings so we were married at Treasure Island in Vegas. Still cost 2500 by the time it was all done.

I'm sure it's cheaper now with airfare etc. That included the measly 600 we had to gamble with. Seemed like a low amount for 2 people in Vegas 4 or 5 days but we literally put the last of the money in the slots at the airport waiting for a delayed plane. We also went to the Zigfried and Roy show which I am so glad that we got to see before it ended. A little strange seeing 2 old ho&&'s on stage in tights but it was unbelievable. We sat so close and I was looking for optical issues etc. and the only explaination is the sold thier souls to satan and it really was majic. I think the wedding itself was about 600 with video, photos, champaign, flowers for her and my suit lapel, and limo ride to get the lisence.

I got married in Jamaica at a Sandals resort. All inclusive, couples only resort and it was great. That was in 1993. Left the flooded plains of Missouri and flew to Jamaica. That was a great experience and we saved a ton on the wedding.

I have also stayed at an all inclusive resort in the Bahamas (Radisson Cable Beach Resort) and it was cool as well. Kids went with us on this trip so all inclusive was the only way to go.

All inclusive is nice option because you do not need to carry cash or credit cards everywhere you go. Plus, you can throw a lot of cash around buying drinks and meals and more drinks for a week. I'm sure you pay for them up front in the all inclusive packages but it feels free while on your trip. You still have the option to venture out to a local spot if you want. Both all inclusive resorts I have visited had great restaurant choices.

I stayed at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas last year and I highly recommend it. But there are thousands of people, kids, celebrities, etc. at that place. But man was it cool! Luckily, that was a corporate trip because that place is very expensive.

Being this is your honeymoon, take full advantage of the experience. Choose your destination based on your desires (no kids, quiet setting, quality of diving, etc...).

I have not travelled a lot, but all of the beaches I have visited have been better than Missouri!
