lil background story. I picked up the tank used for about $80. which i kinda think I over paid but its all good. It did come with some good amount of live rock and sand.
So now began the fun. I dumped all that water and sand. think i might of killed two lil hermits. RIP. the tank was pretty nasty. I filled that bad boy up with vinegar and water let it sit for a day. scrubbed it up and down. drained. then filled with fresh water let it sit for another 24hrs then dumped it. let it dry. now that the tank was spotless i purchased some Tahitian black sand and set up my aquascape and let the tank sit it Di water for about 3-4 days because i wanted to kill any buggers living in my live rocks. on day 4 i plucked out a few bristle worms.
So the following day i filled it up with saltwater from my brother in laws 120G.
makes cycling so much easier. lol

so thats how the tank sat for a few days with the stock PC bulbs while i did research on LED retros for the BC14. was originally gonna purchase from nanotuners but on the day that i made up my mind to buy from them the bums shut down.... :headwalls: lol so i went with option B and went to RapidLEd and got my kit from them. I lil bit more hands on then i expected, but splicing wires is right up my alley. but i did go w/ the plug and play kit they sell because i of have never soldered anything and was kinda scared id mess it all up. Along with that kit i bought a dimmer controller for it as well to give me sunrise, sunset blah blah blah.. As far as the stand i picked that up at Savers (its kinda like goodwill or salvation army) for a sweet price of $14. it was originally a filling cabinet lol but i put some hinges on it and took my jigsaw to the back and cut a hole for wires... just wish it was taller so i wouldnt have to squat down or sit on a stool to look at my tank. :strange:

this is the after shot with the cree leds 6 pure white 6 royal blue set up in a cross pattern. and here is how the wiring looks as of now took me a white to finaly get everything organized i also bought a few other toys for it like a JBJ ato. among other things like a Intank media basket. with the submerge-able fuge light. a koralia evo nano 245 and digital thermostat and i upgraded the return to a mj900. another niffty lil accessory that i picked up the other day at walmart was socket extensions. they are about 6inches long but they make room by plunging those ac adapter so they arent blocking my all my timers on the extension. (ill post a updated pic of that later) :spin1:

so here are some more pictures of the tank as its been progressing. the Coraline growth has been doing pretty good. but i have been seeing some alge growth on some of my rocks it likes like super tinny blades of grass kinda like a weed.. (been to lazy right now to really find out what is it) I got my CUC from reefcleaners and man that was a good deal, they even tossed in some red algae for a penny. and it was like snail paloza when i added in all those suckers. i did give a few away to a few reefer that has been really awsome in hooking me up with a frag of xenias and kenya tree.
