another 14g Biocube build ;)

i still havent gotten my jbj ato up and running yet. ive just been to lazy to pull the trigger on a brand of aqualifter. but i did buy a lil reservoir. :)
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzMTQuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzMTQuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

its a lil 1g jug. i wanted something that i could hide in the stand, yet still have a decent amount of water. as far as me going on vacation i just fill up my five gallon and leave it outside the stand ;)

here is the water spreader by intank, so far im just a tad dissapointed with it. the cuts and shape are great, the only thing that is turning me off on it is the grip area that keeps the first tab and media rack together. it doesnt really stay in place, feels like i need to do something either to prop it up or modify that bottom grip. ill post a picture of how it sits in the tank later. i really want to make sure that its doing what i promised. so ill know later tonight when i look at my filter floss.

I have a similar experience with mine. It does spread the water but it only sort of directs the flow more into the media basket. There are gaps where water is moving around instead of into the basket. It still works better than no spreader :)

some im having some bryopsis. they look like lil blades of grass and its bugging the hell out of me. im also having these lil bugger pop around the place. i think this all started when i got some free chaeto from my lfs. darn it. but yah can anyone ID this thing?

<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzMTIuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzMTIuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

lol yup.

so here is the intank water director. went home today for lunch and noticed that i was doing its job, but alot of water was getting directed to the sides and not falling on the filter pad. it seemed that my tab that it rest on was a lil uneven, since i only had like 20min i didnt really have time to see how off it was. as a temp solution i used one of the old stay/holds that comes stock w/ the media basket as a level. now the water proportion is deff better on the director.

on a side not i also came home to find that the hydor deflector blew off the nozzle hahaha good job hydor. i need to find some way to keep that sucker on.. any ideas? more pics to come.

Wrap some Teflon tape around the nozzle until the Flo has to be wedged onto it. I've done that for ill-fitting filter intakes in the past.

ill give that shot. i tried one of the slightly larger adapters and managed to get it in there some how. if that doesnt work. teflon it is.

on a side note. im trying to bring back some corals i received back to life.. i got a few heads of purple death zoas from a friend and they arent as purple as most would have. what would be the best remedy to bring them back to life

Update 1/26/12 got alot of new corals. I also received my shipment of Ricordias today, a majority of them have a piece of attached rock on them. but i set up a temporary home from the whole group so they can attach and get adjusted to light, plus i dont want them blowing all over the tank. still have to decide which ones i want to set up a ricordia display rock.

<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzNzMuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzNzMuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

i used some glas icecream bowls, made some home made LR rubble from a extra rock i didnt like in my tank. and went to town.

<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzNzQuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzNzQuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

on a side note my gbta might die, one day it looks great, full of water and happy, then a few hours later or the next day it looks gross like this

<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzNTYuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzNTYuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

what the heck is happening to it. I feed it regularly. i know its a lil small. i was feeding it silver sides. small pieces, and filter food too. but i think im gonna switch over to feeding it mysis. hopefully it doesnt die. the whole reason i got this ting was for my clown, but the sexy shrimp took a liking to it instead, but now it seems that they moved to the kenya tree. Do you think my coral banded shrimp is hurting it??? im usually at work all day so i can really see whats really going on.

good day

so woke up this morning. me nem was dead. all i found today was a white hard blob thing. well it also sucks to lose a invert. specially our wallets. it just sucks because Ive always had good luck with nems. I wont be buying another one. my clown hosted the torch i purchased from a fellow reefer. and im kinda over corals that can move by themselves and go where they please.

so here are some more pics. I finaly got my ric center piece all set up. took a white to get all these lil guys into place. but im pretty happy with how they turned out. i just hope when they get really big i wont have to remove to many of them to give them more room.
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzNzkuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzNzkuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

So im trying FUEL in my tank. has anyone had good experiences with this guy right here?
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzOTIuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzOTIuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

here are some more coral shots. there is still a FTS coming soon. im still a lil finicky with the final position of all my corals b4 i glue them down. soo ill let you know what that happens.
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/?action=view&current=SU1BRzAzOTAuanBn.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/thiago_caetano/SU1BRzAzOTAuanBn.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

new addition to the tank. bi-color dotty back. i know these guys get a bad rep. but im only going to have him and my clown in the tank as far as fish. so im sure they will keep to them selves.

Current update:
lost my nem. and my bicolor blenny. he jammed him self in a hole and by the time i decided to stop his game of hidenseek he was pretty far gone. :( i think my coral banded shrimp caused him to hide for his life. everything else is doing pretty good in the tank. still havent taken a FTS yet. because ive been busy with work. As far as the remaining corals. my Ricordia centerpiece is settling in pretty good. I deff need to buy some apitasia x. some of the frags that i got from a local reefer has some. i managed to kill most but im finding lil babies popping up. and lil mini bristle worms on my tyree warcoral. =/ also look like my clown broke out in ich last night. Damn....

one of the few changes i have done to the tank is that i finaly started using my ato. i just had it hanging out for the longest time... that lil guy does come in handy. I put a lil bit of FUEL in there so everytime it tops off my corals will get a lil boost. One other major thing i switched was my salt. I am no longer buying pre mixed salt from my lfs. I believe thats what was giving me all those algae blooms. so now i use B-ionic mix. expensive as heck, but my tank is loving it.
