Another Aquapod Project (pics)

Well, as I expected could happen the Aquapod from Foster & Smith arrived with a crack in the rear. The thing that really gets me is that I didn't see it until I was testing for leaks. I looked the thing over pretty well and it was in an area that wasn't that noticeable. I'll have to look a little closer next time. Foster & Smith's customer service is pretty good, so they are sending me a return label. I just hope the next one arrives OK. I've been looking forward to this for some time.

Here is what it will look like with the custom built very plain "yes dear" (but matches the other furniture in the room) stand..(yes - I built the other one in the background as well that has to go away because it doesn't "match" anything.) :)

I got a hold of some live rock this weekend, so I might be able to start up my 44 gal hex FOWLR. My wife will be traveling this week, so I might be able to get away with it. :D

I plan on doing all of the regular mods, although I will be going bare bottom. I'll have to wait and see how the temp is before I decide the chiller option is right for me. Until next week sometime....

I should've mentioned that I suppose......:) It's the 24 - I decided to try the 150w HQI. The sunpod is actually quite nice and everything checked out on that OK.

I'm not really sure. I think I recall the JBJ or Cadlights (one of the two) having the option of overflow on the side or rear, but I've never seen that with the Aquapod. I just began looking at these recently after my homemade cube project went out the door.

Well, I finally received the return label today. I called Drs. F&S to make sure I could send back the tank and keep the lights for the replacement and I'm glad that I did. They wanted me to send back the whole order to replace the broken tank! So I would have to send the tank and the lights back to fix a broken tank for them to just turn around and send the same lights back with the replacement. Not a big deal I guess, but why risk shipping more glass when it's not needed? The fixture I have works fine. So, I just canceled the order and I'm taking the refund. Perhaps I'll go with a cadlights or oceanic. Oh well. Time to start on the FOWLR! :)

Just an update - I still have yet to receive the return label that I need to return the products. If they would have allowed me to exchange the tank only, this whole transaction would have been completed a week or more ago. Since they insisted that I send the lights back with the tank, I'm still waiting on the other return label that they neglected to send out in the first place. I would have recommended Drs. F&S for anything a month ago, now I won't be back. I never had to return anything before, and I will not be returning anything again.
