Another Bean Animal is making noise thread

I have a 180G that's been set and running fine for almost 2 years. Lately I've been getting this air bubble noise, almost like a surge...it seems to be coming from the gate valve.
So my question then .....can they (gate valves) go bad?

Unlikely..they really can't fail in this application...
But you can get build up there and elsewhere in the pipes over time...

Have you just opened it all the way and gried to reset it...

Yes I tried that a little while ago....opened all the way and slowly closed back down. It does seem a little better but there is still a sort of ticking noise coming from there. I guess the next step is pull the elbows from the overflow box and make sure the airline tube is clear?
