another Calcium Hydroxide thread

It look like this might happen (still not sure) I'm hoping to keep the cost per bag under 30.00...These are 50# bags of food grade Calcium Hydroxide (Mississippi Lime). I feel this stuff is better then the stuff I got last year.

I'm looking at getting 40 bags, need to know how many takers I'll have. I don't want this stuff sitting around in my garage.

Mark,

So how long do you think it'll take for me to go through a 50# bag for my lil' 30 gallon tank? :D I'll be interested in some but man my garage is getting smaller by the minute.

Kenny,
I can't tell you that. I can say it a lot cheaper then 10 bucks a pound..

This isn't something you want hanging around, open, in the garage for the kids to get into. I have always suggested to those who buy it to keep it in a sealed container.

Tony, I don't have any right now but when\if I do get it, it will only be for Calcium Hydroxide reactors;)

Ain't that the truth. It is a great deal. Maybe I'll find someone to split a bag with. Approximately how big is the 50# bag and do you know how long it'll keep if sealed? Thanks Mark.

Thank you for your information, please let me know if you have some in the future...

Mark...
10 bags???... you must think I'm addicted or something :)
Roland may still have one he wants to get rid of. I'm down to the bottom of the first bag from the last time.

Maybe more, I'll let you know.

Thanks... SteveU

Tony, Kenny,
Your going to have to ask Steve about this...He's a big time user:lol:

I'd do a search here for all the info you need.

FWIW, I'll be selling my custom MRC Kalk reactor as soon as I get my stuff from George (Geo) The MRC reactor I have use a heavy heavy duty mag stirrer. Its way way better then the units Andy uses.

Tony,
I don't mean to bust your bio balls but do you know what Kalkwasser is? in German it means Lime water..Lime is Calcium Hydroxide. The stuff you buy at your LFS that says Kalkwasser is Calcium Hydroxide, probably a lesser grade then Food grade.

He knows what it is, the bastard just like to play dumb for some reasons. He pulled the same thing on me when I first met him.

Thanks Mark...just don't get started and you'll never need to quit.

I'm your KW Daddy... ask away.

SteveU

Ah.....this sounds very complicated indeed. It also sounds like your Kalk reactor is bigger than my tank  Is there anyway to just mix CaOH and drip it instead. Sorry for the million questions and hijacking your thread Mark. I just wanted to know so that I don't pass up a great opportunity to save some money.
