Another Canadian Reef! 600 gallon Penninsula!

hi cougarman, i noticed in the pics the return air vent to the left of the sump is not protected, wont take to long before the moist salty air gets a hold on it. better get it protected. Build is looking fantastic. cant wait to see more. jimmy

Ya, I've considered covering it, but I think instead I'll add a cover to the end of the sump to keep splash down. Or maybe both. I'll make a decision once the display tank is plumbed and I see what if any water splash there is. There is actually a couple feet of space between the return vent and the sump.
 
New guy here. Following with great interest. Very nice setup. Looking forward to seeing how your ramp design works, its a very ingenious solution and I hope it works well (so I can "borrow" it for my own sump design)

Welcome new guy. I hope the ramp works. It may have to be larger, but we will see.

The Duss looks great in even these conditions (moving, small tank, moving ...). Glad to see him again :)

Looking forward to the progression ... good to have the life support systems getting up to speed.

Really like your sump, hope you can make a review of the detritus trap which I would love to implement on a new sump I'm planning.

Overall, the whole setup is looking great, congrats.
 
So the glass arrived today and John got started on the build. He will be returning on Friday to add the eurobracing top and bottom and clean up the excess silicone.

Here are some pics of the arrival, and completed 1st day. Lukas has a lot more photos which he took while I was at work. Either he or I will upload them for you guys to see.

and thats a huge tank with the glass on it now.... (it looked big before... but now its HUGE!!)

cant wait till water. (how long does he suggest waiting for Silicone curing? i was told 1 week per 1/4in of silicone. = 3 weeks for 3/4 glass)

I'll get Lukas to see what brand silicone he used. John recommends waiting 3 weeks before filling it.

The tank is a monster. The top edge is at about 6 feet. It's just the way I wanted it. I didn't want to have to bend over to see in the tank. Plus I wanted to be able to see through the tank to the room on the other side.

LOL. He had to travel from Scarborough to Burlington this morning. Traffic was bad.
