another clown

I'm thinking of adding another clown fish to my tank but I have one that's been in there for over a year so would it be possible or not worth the risk. I know they will fight until paired up.

You can give it a try but be prepared to rescue the new addition if need be. It must be the same species of clown and must be smaller than the clown you currently have in the tank.

What kind of clown do you have. Many species are easy to pair, while some are very difficult.

it's oscellaris. I have a rbta also but it has shown no interest in hosting in it.

For Ocellaris, all you need is to add a smaller one. There should be minimal fighting. Risk to the new clown is minimal

Any Ocellaris or even a Percula would be fine as long as it is smalelr than the oen you have and is still a juvinile
