Another Custom Stand Construction Thread- 120 Gal.

Just finished building the framework for my stand and wanted to ask a few questions before I skin the stand. I currently have a 75 gallon 48x18. I am hoping to get a 180 gallon 72x24 soonish. The stand measures 72.5x24.5x31. The top frame is 2x6. I built supports at 48in with legs in the back only for the 75 gallon. Do I need support in the front--2 more legs where the edges of the 75 will be? I will use 1/2 or 3/4 in ply on the top and sides.

Since you have a 2x6 for your top rail....and if you skin it with 3/4 ply wood..you'll be fine without the support in the front. for the 75 gallon and when you move up to a 180 gallon...

Well my tank has now hit the 8 year mark and I believe this is going to be the end. I believe I'm going to tear it down and sell out. I don't have the time or desire to continue the maintenance it needs and requires.

Selling the livestock where I live might be a challenge so it could be a long process. More details to come once I decide for sure.

I'm rarely on Reef Central anymore but I still get pm's about my stand. So I'm bumping this thread to help a few people find it. Good luck with your builds.

Thank you for the inspiration!

Thank you for the inspiration! (These were taken when the refuge was new and I hadn't sealed out the light on the upper door.)

I'm sorry to hear of this break down, you did a wonderful job on that cabinet.
Your thread was just posted here recently asking how to copy it by someone, maybe a potential buyer though I'm sure there may be many for such a nice cabinet.
I hate to see something built so nice sold off for a fraction of what was put into it, but good luck to you either way on it.

thanks Dave. I know I will never get full value for it where I live. I have it priced fairly so someone else can enjoy it as much as I did.

Beautiful setup marino420td! Thanks for sharing. I Wanted one for myself, though it wont be anything as cool as yours, it will be good enough for me.
I just finished construction on the stand for my 120 gallon tank. It is made of maple and will be stained cherry to match my bar. Raised panel doors will be ordered for the front and sides.
