Another G Smithii on the way.

I am sure some of you have seen my posts about the 2 mantis that I have got from Blue Zoo that died(One was Doa, One died a week after I got it) and they finally got some more Smithii's in stock so I went ahead and used my credit up last night and ordered one. Hopefully everything works out this time because I have been pretty unlucky with this so far. Ill get some pics up of him tomorrow when I am acclimating if all goes well.

The Wennerae I got from Fuzznutz is doing great. He has been a little bit more active so I guess he figured out I wasnt trying to capture him. I loaded his tank with 3 snails and a hermit and the only thing he has taken so far has been the hermit so I bought him 2 camel shrimp and a emerald to play with so hopefully that will entice him to start hunting for himself instead of waiting for the feeding stick. Kind of funny how that works out, the two I have paid for died and the one that was free is doing great.

Good luck on the new smithii. I had gotten an email notification that Blue Zoo had more in stock- just got the email last night- and now they are sold out. Glad that you were able to get one.
I jumped on the one that was listed on Live Aquaria Diver's Den a little over a week ago.
Can't these online vendors see that we are mantis junkies and we need a continual fix....LOL, just kidding. But it is kinda weird that I spent $$ to get my smithii purchased and shipped, and it felt like winning the lotto practically. But instead of winning money- I spent money.
I hope that this one works out for you- mantis have so much personality it is not like losing an invert. I am amazed at the colors and anatomy- I watch mine while she is out- just to see the patterns, grooming, and to see how she moves and digs.
There is just something about those googly eyes.........:D

Well no surprise considering my luck but my package still hasnt arrive yet and was supposed to be delivered by 1030 and it is now 11. Checked the tracking and it appears its still sitting about 3 hrs away from my house but who knows. I wouldnt be surprised if it doesnt get here today the way things have been going.

Sorry guys forgot to come in and respond. Turns out that it didnt arrive to my city until late so it missed the early truck that delivers the overnight packages but it got here around 1:00 pm and the mantis was in good shape. Acclimated him for 2 hours and dropped him in the tank and he darted under a rock. He just started digging a burrow for himself so everything appears to be normal. Hes about 2.5-3", dark green with the patented purple merals. Ill get some pics up tomorrow if hes out and about.

*Phew!*

Glad to hear he arrived safely, and that he's "bright eyed and bushy tailed". Blue Zoo are good people (in my experiences) and I hope this changes your opinion of them. :P

I look forward to seeing pics!

Never really had a bad opinion of them as it appeared they did every thing they could with the other 2 I just think I was unlucky with the mantis' I had ordered. Their packaging is the best I have seen and I was more than satisfied with the way they handled compensating me for the previous losses.

I didnt get any pics yesterday because my camera was dead while I was acclimating and he hasn't been out to get a good pic of him today so whenever I get a chance I will snap some and post them for you guys.

I "won the lotto" for the G. smithii they posted yesterday... should arrive tomorrow. Hope I don't have the bad luck you did Lehman... or the delay! =)

I'm curious to see how this one's attitude compares to my Haptosquilla sp. She's about as peaceful as they get (unless you happen to be an amphipod).

I promise I will as soon as he cooperates and comes out of his burrow enough for me to get a good pic. If I cant get one by Saturday I will go ahead and try to entice him out with some shrimp but I was trying to avoid doing that so he would hunt down the live food thats already in there for him.
