Another global warming nightmare

Wow. It's the thermohaline conveyor in action---or lack of it. And that mechanism what I'm personally watching with interest. A bobble in the Great Conveyor means a Little Ice Age: we migrated to America in the midst of one. A big bobble means a major reglaciation, read big Ice Age. It will be ironic if all the people who've decried the possibility of global warming [because they envision a global heat wave and desertification] end up shoveling lots and lots and lots of snow while the equator turns muggy and drowns in rain. The planet has corrective mechanisms, and much as some critics of global warming theory want to talk about self-correcting 'natural cycles', the upshot of it is that if a correction gets triggered, the correction is on a planetary scale---which is pretty big, in terms of our comfort zone. Even my love of ice and snow has some limits.

Yeah, it's so non-scientific that they used millions in research equipment and had some of the smartest deep water scientists in the world just so they could pull the wool over your eyes. Comments like that make me frickin sick. It is beyond ridiculous that people don't think global warming is real. What does Rueters stand for? They are the most reputable world wide news agency in the world and they reported on it first, followed by about every major news agancy in the world. Go back to reading the enquirer if you want to stick your head in the sand.

Considering our common interest in coral and this hobby, I would like to think that people would be more interested in what is happening to our environment. If global warming continues (the earth is warming, this is no longer debated) coral reefs will be one of the first things to be affected.

In 2005 when the water around Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands hit a record high up to 90 percent of some reefs bleached.

How is it that all right-wing conservatives denounce global warming because that can't stand to agree with any Democrat (specifically Al Gore lately)? I don't like Al Gore either, but that doesn't mean that I won't agree that global warming is becoming a problem.

There IS (whether that article uses it or not) a plethora of scientific knowledge proving that the earth is experiencing alarming rates of global warming, and that the effect is, and will be enormous.

And there is just a much evidence that says exactly the opposite......

So how about we get the freaking politicians out of the scientists hair and let them do real non-politically influenced science??
Instead of the pre-determined outcome as specified by (insert political agenda here) group that is paying for the study ??

Maybe then we will get the truth as opposed to the left vs the right garbage...... last time I looked we all kinda share the same planet.

Personally - I would be more concerned about the damage erosion and runoff is doing to the reefs.
That is something that there should be no argument on. And can be readily fixed.

Personally, I don`t think you need any expert scientific research, just some objective common sense.
You can`t think man`s actions over the past hundred years have not had a detrimental effect on Earth.
Have you flown over Atlanta(or anywhere, for that matter) in the last 10-20 yrs.? There`s more destruction going on than just in the rainforest.
How much plant life and life supporting soil have we paved over?

How long would your reef tank be healthy if you started removing the liverock, and live sand?

I used to think it was ignorant that some(no name mentioned) could deny global warming, but its probably very self serving for those to do so.

Sorry - but I have a problem with so called experts who run around telling everyone how bad the rest of us are.
And how much we need to conserve.

While they fly around in their private jets......

I believe there is a word for them.

Hmm.... leemme think.... could it be

Hypocrite?

Everyone used to say the world is flat too, Whats it going to take? The polar ice caps melting? Mass extinction? The death of our coral reefs? A smog cloud settling on your front door? It's like your closing your eyes and saying "someone show me!" You have to open your eyes to see. Or...just keep thinking the world is flat :(

Exactly !!

You've just deciphered the vast right wing conspiracy............:eek1: :eek2:

Sheesh

Like I said before - we all live on the same planet.
