Well, anemones and power head intakes do not mix. RIP small purple anemone :)

i found that out the hard way :rolleye1:

i had one of my BTAs take a trip through a ph about a week after i got it. i saved it though. i put filters on the intakes of the phs until it got settled in. removed the sponges a few weeks later. no problems at all.

then we lost power last week. the anemone had to move onto the ph. the power came back on....no mo BTA

I have screenson the intakes, but alas, he was still sucked in. Oh well, never liked that one anyways!!

The really funny thing is, in my "QT tank of misfit reef creatures" the peppermint shrimp dance happily upon the intake screens.

"The little brain that came on the rock" looks just like a human brain, with hemisperes and everything!
Looking good, dude!

Dave great pics!! i like the new rock work with the "cove" on the right side :D

Jerry, i believe its a type of finger leather AKA devils hand coral.

Yep, a DEvils hand coral. I need to move it actually. One of tghe anemones is interfering with it.

Thanks Dave and Landon. You didn't mention the camera you use. The Devils Hand looks similar to a damaged one I picked up at a fish store in Atlanta but I forgot the name.

I use a Sony MVC CD-250. It is a pretty good camera actually, not really top of the line but tough and durable.

I am going to the fish store tonight. I am brewing 30 gallons of water for water changes in all three tanks. Then I will transfer the tang to his new home in the 75. I am going to get a Black and White Heniochus for the Fo and around 5 blue tailed or azure damsels for the reef.

Dave, that closeup of the christmas tree worm was unreal. I can't believe how good that picture was! I felt like my camera was inadequate for macros BEFORE I saw that picture; you've definitely inspired some serious camera-envy for me. Thanks a LOT

:D

Yesterday I moved the Yellow Tang into his permanant home in the 75 gallon. One of the benefits of keeping your QT tank and display tanks at the same parameters is no acclimation. I just fished him out of the QT and put him into the 75 and continued swimming without missing a beat and was gobbling food minutes later.

It is always amazing to me how incredible the tank looks after a nice scrub down and water change!!! I wish you could see it in person as pictures just dont do justice to it.

On another note. I am in a quandry, sould I get a Niger Trigger or a Black and White Heniochus fior the 75 gallon tomorrow???
