another stupid multicontroller question

If I was to only hook two pumps up to the multicontroller, they should go into 1 and 4? or 1 and 3? The switch on the right is in the middle and the dials are opposite of each other for the two channels, and I want raucous flow....thanks...

1 and 3 for pulse mode 1 and 4 for tide mode and no that isn't a stupid question- now if you were to ask about submerging it in saltwater and using it to pump gasoline we might have to talk

another question:in tide mode, switch on right up to the top, if four pumps are connected, are two of them on at all times, or does it vary???

Two are on at all times- channel one and then channel two.
