Another update on my diy skimmer.

Hi folks,
As my tank gets a little more older and more bioloads were added, And this is what I get for 2 days of skimming very dark skimmate. My next skimmer is on progress and will be 11" OD tube, dual recirculation maybe with the 2 Eheims sit under the skimmer body as REEFER714 and I are planning now. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

How big is your tank? I have a Euroreef 6-2 with the neck added 4" longer for better contact time ,recir. mod(Sedra 5000 new impellor),sedra 3500 to feed( also new impellor) $300 for the whole thing. Considering the cost of the two pumps you actually get the skimmer for $150. Will sell without the Sedra 3500 for $250.

Man.... I wish I could. I just had to pay out of pocket for oral surgery! My wife will pwn me if I spend $300 on a skimmer this week! Loc, are you looking to sell this right away, or is it just sitting around? I could prolly buy in a couple weeks if its still around... LMK.

Loc, that is not skimmate. That look like the fish sause you got it out of your kitchen hahahahahaha.

Yeah, he is going to built another protein skimmer but i don't know what he is going to do with the new one since no one want to buy the DIY stuff anyway. Soon enough Loc going to have a garage full of DIY protein skimmer

what is the importance of recirculation and a feeding pump. i am in the process of buying a G2 and was wondering if i should do this or run it stock.

ASM G skimmers are awesome stock. But if your willing to recirculate, and add gate valve for fine tunning, you get a monster skimming machine. Just be sure to feed it with a venturi as well. Dont buy a pump that will feed direct water(people that feed direct with no venturi arent able to see the skimmers full potential with these mods). You will intefere with the bubbles and the contact time will suck if you dont feed with venturi.


Its all about contact time....Just look at L0c's skimmers man....thats scchhwweeeet!
