another what pump question!

I am setting up a 6' x 6' x 32" deep cube with 12" X 12" center overflow that will be viewable on all sides and have the rock piled around the overflow. I have been going back and forth between using closed loop circulation or stream pumps. I have settled on using (4) streams hidden in the rock. I have 2 6100 streams and like them. On the new tank I'm not sure what size would be appropriate. Would 4 6201 streams be enough, or would I need the extra oomph of the 6301 streams? On a side note I would be running the wire through a dry chase in the central overflow that is 2" pvc would the connectors for the new style pumps allow for feeding the wire through 2" conduit.

The connectors on the new couplers will fit. The junction blocks measure roughly 1.5" long, 1.25" wide and 3/4" thick. You can take the plastic off and just feed the wires through but there is a fair amount of wiring and a small board crammed in that piece and you have to be very careful not to pinch one or short anything out but with a little caution it is not difficult to do. Also be careful because the potentiometer knob is removable, don't lose it. It is made to come out to prevent tampering once it is set.

I think 4 6201's are the way to go. The 6301 is really an "industrial" pump, it was meant for zoos and public aquaria and is intended for large fish. It can easily puree a small reef fish.

Roger, I got the four stream 6201's that we discusses erlier and I have a small problem with one of them. All the transformers are the same but one. Three have the tunze logo on the back but one just lists it as a computer transformer, it differs in that the magnetic donugt on the DC wire is bigger than the others and the male DC connector has a yellow insulator where the others have black insulators. The connector on the Odd transformer seems too big for the female connection on the pump if forced it will only insert about halfway. All the others fit with no problems. Can I get a replacement for the Odd transformer. Thanks for your attention.

Hi Chris,

I learned about this problem last week doing a repair. By our count only 3 of these transformers should be out in circulation. They ran out of transformers at the factory and the supplier sent us 170 of these as they didn't have time to make more of ours before the holidays. They had included a plug adapter which did not make it in to our packaging. I will swap it out for you, I have an address on file, have you moved or should it be the same?

One more question for you Roger,
there is a reostat on the connector for the pump does it have any affect on the pump when it's connected to a controller?

The rheostat should be at 100% when a controller is being used. The 7095 should override this setting but it can cause problems with the controller if it is turned down as the controller may not recieve enough power.
