Anthias care

I plan on eventually purchasing 4 Ignitus and 3 Lyretail Anthias. I've read on a few different threads that Anthias in general can sometimes be difficult to care for.

I understand the feeding/nutrition side of Anthias care. Feeding them 2-3 times a day won't be a problem for me. I have flake/pellets, PE Mysis and Cyclop-Eeze, Nutramar Ova, and SELCO all on hand.

Is there anything else I should know? Are they sensitive to changes in water quality? Are they more susceptible to any kind of diseases?

I added one a week ago today(squareback male) it took him until today to finally start eating again.

It takes them time for them to start eating flakes or pellets. Mine ate a mixture of marine cuisine and brine w/ spirulina. Fist thing he ate some. Adding him to the DT last week


Also if you have intense lighting for your reef the colors can fade.

I have kept many different kinds of anthias. All of them need to be fed at least 3 times per day and have plenty of swimming room. I've not had all that much success getting any of mine to eat pellets or flake (except Bartletts, which are garbage cans), but that's OK because I'm a firm believer in frozen fare.

I've had good success with Lyretails, Bartletts, bimacs, squampinnis, ignitus .... Not so much with evansi or purple queens.

Is there anything special regarding group size, like odd or even numbers? I know this is a thing when keeping tangs.

With the social anthias, such as idnitus and squamipinnis you are planning, odd numbers are best.
