has anyone sucessfully kept more than one Anthias together with out them killing each other in a 90 or smaller and please specify how long and species i think i want bartlett's
I have two (one male, one female) P. truncatus in a 55. They've been together about 2 and a half months now. They get along great. The male occasionally chases the female, but never damages her. The male is about 4", the female around 2".
I had a Bartlett trio for almost a year in a 30g hex. I know, spare me the lectures....I learned. Had to remove them as they required too much food, even with a 5 ft tall DIY skimmer. They were fine with each other.
I have three Females and a male in my 75. They have been togther for almost a year. No problems here. Just make sure your skimmer can export the extra waste.
I've had 2 lyretails in my 90 for around 6 months, and they seem to be quite at home. There's a little chasing from time to time, but they've buddied up with my yellow tang and the chasing is fairly diffused. The male is around 3 inches long, and the female around 2.5. They're great!
I had two dispar's and a sunburst? i think anthias in there for a long time, in a 92 gallon corner tank. and they always seemed to do fine. I've always thought anthias to be a schooling type of fish. the local aquarium has a tank of about 200 dispar anthias in maybe a 300-400 gallon tank, and my dad has asked about them before and there seems to be no problems with the anthias all together in there. i duno maybe dispar's are just different or something.
On a similar subject, is mixing Anthias species a possibility, or will they fight. For example, could I add a female Bartlett's to my tank that already has a male and female P. truncatus? Or would the Truncatus kill the Bartlett's?
I have a 90 and I hope to mix multiple species of anthias. It requires good water quality and good selection of species. As well as multiple feedings. From my understanding.
