Hey guys!
We just moved into a new house, and I was surprised to find a old RO system underneath the sink! It's a part of a system that sends the water out to what I assume is a pressurized metal canister, which then sends the water up to a little spout on the sink up top.
The system itself is pretty old, and hasn't been cared for as well as it should have been. The stickers say that the filters haven't been changed since 2006, and there's a super old replacement cartridge with it (which makes me think it's never been replaced at all). I'm assuming it was only set up once, and never really cared for. There's still water in the lines, and as far as I know it was used up until recently. Here is an album with pictures of the unit.
My main question is, what should I do to this thing to get it up and running again? Do lines need to be replaced? Containers cleaned? If so, what's the best way to go about it?
I'd also like to convert it into a full RODI system. What should I add/remove from this unit to get it up to snuff? I'm assuming I'm going to have to purchase another stage for the DI resin. Is Bulk Reef Supply a good place to get it from?
And finally, I was hoping you guys could possibly recommend the proper type of filter cartridges to buy. I was planning on relocating the unit into our boiler room, right at the point the water comes into the house. We have well water, and it's drinkable without any problem. What filters for the system would be best?
Sorry about all the questions, this is my first RO system and I'm hoping to do it right! Thanks for taking the time to read!
