Any Canadians own a Tear Drop Maxima? Where to buy!?

Alright, here's the problem.

I've looked everywhere, including online CDN stores and they do not carry the elusive tear drop maxima! Even if someone did, it'll probably cost $250CDN for the same 4" Tear drop maxima at clamsdirect (under rare and unusual) for just $55USD. I rather not do mail, but from the looks of it, I have no choice.

Unfortunately, they don't ship to Canada.

If you're a Canadian that owns a tear drop, let me know where you bought it from!

Thanks,

James

One option if you can't find these in Canada: have it shipped from Clamsdirect to a friend/reefer in Buffalo, and drive it back to TO.

Thanks for the ideas.

For now, I rather not go through that kind of trouble.

I'm obsessed, but not that obsessed yet. :-)

have you try'd IJO at at AQUARIACANADA.COM? I haven't bought the teardrop but I'm sure he can get it. Those clams are VERY $$$$ and if your seeing one at $55 US then its probaly very tiny! and small clams have a bad track record for shipping plus you need to feed constantly. $200 CA is not unheard of for a rare teardrop in a good 3 to 4'' size.

John: I've looked at their site. The one for $55USD is 4" http://www.clamsdirect.com/cart/customer/home.php?cat=32

The people in the US have access to amazing clams and prices are amazing too!!!

For now, I refuse to pay $200 for a clam because I have access to a wholesaler. Unfortunately, they did not have any tear drops (chances, probably less than once in a blue moon). All they had were Croceas and some squamosas! It'll be a while before I see any new clams, let alone TD. IMO, between their shipment and some retail stores shipping in their own clams, the clam market in Toronto has been staturated beyond belief (and not a single exotic in sight!). In a few stores, I see the same old clams with no restocking that I can see for 1-2 months now!

When it comes to exotic clams, I feel that Canadians are short changed! And IF someone does sell 'em here, it'll be too much $$$ to justify it. Arrggh!

Thanks for the info,

James

This is true. But give IJO a pm and see what he could dig up. You might get lucky and if your willing to make the drive up you'd save in shipping[but spend in gas] but this would at least be less stressful on the clam then being shipped. He did have some really nice clams and I bought an Ultra croacea last week. What about OAKVILLE REEF GALARY?

Vietnam is where all the Teardrop Maxima came from. Improve holding facility, collection and transport make importing these clams feasible without unacceptable mortality. If you find somebody who import Clams from Vietnam, you can get Teardrop Maxima.
