I placed some zoas next to my large green hairy mushrooms, not touching but 1 inch away and they closed up and wont open. I'ts been 2 days now.

ime zoas will win the battle against mushrooms if the light is bright; high up under mh's

My blue mushrooms win against any zoa that tries to get close. If I remove a the shrooms the zoas open back up, but it takes quite a while. I leave a a small group of shrooms and frag the rest away probably every 3 months.

I have yet to have a zoanthid win against a mushroom, especially a hairy mushroom. Come to think of it, I've never seen a softie do anything but turn black and die when in contact with my green hairy mushrooms.

When in proximity to my green hairys, my zoa polyps close and shrink into non-existance within two weeks. The only thing I've had coexist with them is ricordea floridas, and they still didn't thrive.

Same here. I have Rics laying on and over some zoas with absolutley no ill effect. I'll take zoa loving Rics any day over 'shrooms!
