I am going to be moving soon to our new house next month.

I am looking to buy or build a shed for the back yard. space is limited for where I want it. I may be able to move it further, I need to check with HOA and get permits. for plumbing and electrical.

Once we move in I will measure everything for the location I want, I am looking for someone who can build it. Currently rough size will be 10 long by 6 wide.
I would like to do 8 x 10 or 10x10 but I am not sure the space I have will allow.

This shed will be my fish room. I will be drilling through the exterior walls and plumbing everything to it.

I may end up buying a prefab shed from home depot if I can do the 10x10

Anyone here do this type of stuff? Can help with the planning trenches to run the plumbing/electrical? shed design/build?
 
I would look at the Tuff Sheds. They will still need a lot of work as in a real door & insulation. I had 5k just in material to build an 11 x14 shed. Concrete, electric, etc.
 
I've been curious about plumbing to outdoor sheds or even other rooms on the same level as the tank. In NY, most homes have basements so you can use gravity to move the water down to your sump and all you need is a good pressure rated return pump. If the tank and the 'fish room' are on the same level, you can't use gravity to feed the sump so how do you balance things out? I've been thinking about this for a while and I just can't figure out how the system would work.

Any thoughts?

Ryan did what it sounds like you are planning on doing. You might contact him. He goes to the PROP meetings so you might be able to hook up there.


I've seen his setup and it's truely something to drool over. Totally silent because all the pumps and equipment are out in the back yard shed.

I once built a Koolade stand when I was 11 and it was water proof, didn't sell much Koolade so my Dad made firewood out of it.

I've been thinking about setting up a lemonade stand in front of my house. I should make enough money to cover my mortgage (my lemonade is amazing). For a percentage, would you come over and help me build the stand?
 
Unless you can find a licensed contractor to build something I would think a pre-built shed would be the way to go. I don't know if this would apply in Arizona but pole barns are awesome for the size & cost.
 
I think the real problem with a shed is that it has to be both insulated and cooled (and perhaps heated in the middle of the winter). I've seriously considered it but between the additional complexity of the build and the cost, it's hard to justify.

If I was going to add a shed, I'd go the 'tough shed' at home depot.
