Any help with skimmer thread?

Just picked up the Octopus DNS-150 from TitansFan, I'm really excited to get it hooked up, really decent build on a chinese skimmer.

I agree with the solution you suggested. I don't see a problem at all with cutting 1/4" from the collection cup. Just try to make a nice straight cut ... I think a miter saw would probably be best. What do you think?

Thanks for the help, If I do it, I think I'll probably either have it done at a plastics shop, or do it with a router, that will probably help keep it nice and flat.

After looking around at some other skimmers, I'm pretty sure I won't hurt the performance by cutting down the cup and not the internal collar, especially by so little.
