Any ideas on what i can add to reef tank that is yellow *Aqua Reef 400* thx

This guy

From Liveaquaria: It will eat fireworms and pyramidellid snails, protecting corals and clams. In addition, it may also eat feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, and flatworms. However, they will not bother polyps, mushrooms or corals.

I recently got one and no problems. Nice fish!

Do you think it would eat my cleaner shrimp because its only a 1-2cm big

I've tried four of them but they always starve in my tank no matter what I offer it (live brine, masstick, fish eggs, mysis, brine, spirulana)

Oh wow! I didn't know they were difficult to keep! Happy to hear that, I've done good with mine then, 18 months so far.

Lucky, I wish I could keep them. I like how they perch on the rocks atound the tank

I'll second the recommendations for yellow clown gobies; get two, they'll form a pair (they're bi-directional protogynous hermaphrodites....fancy speak for "if you put two together, one will become a girl and the other will become a boy").

I'm also a big fan of midas blennies - beautiful splash of color, and that typical blenny big personality.

Edit: Didn't see you'd tried clown gobies....very surprising to me! I've always found them extremely easy hardy little fish.

You think the midas would be fine with two big algae blennys?

Your cleaner is less than an inch long?
I don't have any shrimp and can't answer your question. You might take the question to the "Reef Fishes" part of the forum.

I think the midas *might* be okay with the algae blennies, but I haven't myself tried that combo. Midas blennies and algae blennies have somewhat different ecological niches in the tank. Algae blennies are big herbivores, tend to stay on the rocks. Midas blennies tend to be more free-swimming, and much more into meaty foods. They're planktivores, not herbivores.

So...in a big tank, in theory, it could work out, provided they are enough hidey holes. But if you can find someone who's actually tried that combo, they'll probably have more concrete advice on whether it's advisable.

Assessors can be shy but it depends on their company. Buying multiple can help and their odd swimming patterns more then make up for occasional shyness.

Yeah, my blue jaw tilefish is still hiding. It looks like its about to come out then it swims back in behind the rocks :/
