Any issues with this plumbing setup?

New tank has 1" return bulkhead.

Basement return pump 12' under the tank pushes out at 3/4". Will use 3/4 -> 1" bushing at some point before return bulkhead to bring it up to 1".

Common plumbing solution? Or am I putting undue pressure on my return?

Thanks!:uzi:

Sounds ok to me... the question would be if you should use the bushing right out of the pump, or should you do it at the bulkhead, that's where i'll let someone else go from here

I would go to 1" right at the pump output, then run 1" all the way to the tank. The less amount of 3/4" the better. I also use a basement return, I used spa flex to run it upstairs so there is no 90's, 45's, or other connection to slow flow, just 1 continuous piece of pipe.

If the pump is 3/4" than leave it that way, going to 1" won't give you more flow...the tubing will also be much easier to bend. Just reduce the bulkhead down to 3/4" and that's it.

thanks guys, it sounds like i need to go from 3/4" right after the pump to 1", then spaflex all the way up to bulkhead.

I would go 1" right at the pump output, the spa flex is certainly optional, it is more expensive so if you want to save money and use regular pvc that would be fine. I do like that the spa is 1 continuous piece with no fittings, very easy to work with too.
