Any Latezonatus owners?

Hey WDLV,

I see you are in Maryland, my neighbor to the north. Have you ever seen these fish locally? What temp are you keeping your tanks at?

I may have seen a juvie once but neither I nor the store knew what it was at the time.

My tanks are kept around 75-78. I start getting nervous if they get around 82.

Just got my hands on a pair! The male came in about a month ago and was just released from quarantine. I am told the female has came in over 5 months ago but suffered from a bacterial infection that caused blindness in one eye. She has fully recovered and appears to be very healthy. I was told that this bacteria was quite prevalent last summer. Not sure if anyone has had experience with it.

I am a bit concerned about my mating pair of Onyx. The male Latezonatus punked them pretty hard and forced them out of their anemone. The female Onyx is a little banged up. I might have to somehow fish them out of the system and start a separate breeding tank for them.

Nice Fish! Where did you find them? I think you might have problems with two pairs of clowns, especially since the Latz tend to be larger and pretty aggressive. I would try to remove one of the pairs as soon as possible.

My latz pair were getting their butts handed to them by a perideriaon female that was half their size in a 210 gallon. Size doesn't mean crap t a clown.

I have kept mixed clowns in tanks for years and some have been cool with each other for a long time, but it only takes one change in the tank (like a new inhabitant or a rockwork change) to make them start fighting. I don't do it any more.

Well the fighting settled down after about 30 mins and, not surprisingly, the Latz have taken over control of the anemone and ousted the Onyx pair. Not sure where the female is going to dump her eggs now. There is another rose that walked on me but as of last night it was parked in a head of coral at the back of the tank. Can't get to it to move/remove. Hopefully it will walk somewhere more exposed and the Onyx will have a new home.

RBdesigns: Not sure what the treatment regimen is but you can ask Mark @ bluezooaquatics about it. He seems very knowledgable.

PLEASE send me info on availablity. ANYONE!

Cartman, I thought you already found yours not too long ago.

The one i had died from brook. I didn't quarentine to begin with and lost all my fish. I contacted Blue Zoo and hopefully they will notify me when they have a pair. I hope to have learned from my last experience.

Sorry to hear that.

But as a clownfish collector, I have to say that quarantine ALL fish is one of your best tool. It is just disheartening to lose a priced collection, it's not even a matter of money because alot of these clownfish species & particular color morph are not always available.

Keep your eyes open, Latz season is starting soon

I'll second what vap said. I have learned the hard way to not only quarrantine but also to pre-emptively (sp?) treat all new arrivals.

have anybody seen them come into US lately?

Yup. Bluezoo sold some. I think within the last 24 hours.

Any more Latz sightings? I got the in stock notification from Blue Zoo last month but I was too late.

The season is starting. My lfs is getting four and they are already sold.
Its funny how stores couldn't give these away toward the end of last years influx. Everyone got their fill and the demand tailed off. Based on this I would be shocked if we see another influx like last year. I would estimate that the numbers will be much lower unless they see a high demand.

$200-$250 for Adults and $250-$300 for the juveniles. 't know why places charge more for the bigger ones unless they QT them before hand.
If I am correct and they don't import as many expect the juvenile prices to be higher.
