Any morel hunters here???

I found a bunch this morning when I went to mow my yard! I guess that's one of the benefits of having a HUGE ELM tree in my yard! I'm going out looking for more this weekend.

Just remember to leave a few so they can reproduce or whatever it is they do.

I was always told to use a gunny sack or onion sack when you're getting shrooms that way the spores will fall out and back onto the ground for more to grow the next year. Does it work, I don't know but that's what I do.

If anyone near CF has some potential morel territory they would let me snoop around I would be eternally grateful! yum!!

Actually if you're up for a drive head down to hickory hills park and start looking around. The place is loaded with them. I used to go there all the time but I haven't been there in a long time.

Of couse it's not "legal" to pick them at a state park but ...... :lol:

Hickory Hills is a good place but theres always tons of ppl out there looking. You live pretty close to ulrich park, theres gotta be some out there. Be sure to check on hillsides around dead elms.

Might be some legal issues with mass production of "Shrooooooms..."
