Adding a fu manchu lion and looking at adding a warty skin frog fish to my tank anybody have any luck keeping them in a reef tank

That combination could end spectacularly badly. One will almost certainly eat or try to eat the other eventually, which could prove fatal to both.

Unless the angler is tiny and the lion large, it will be the lionfish that's eaten. D. biocellatus has a pretty small mouth as far as lionfish go.

The fu Manchu will eat whatever can fit in its mouth. I used to have one. It was the wife's favorite fish. We started it out on live grass shrimp. Then slowly weened it on krill. Unfortunately it developed some type of infection over its eyes and was no longer feed.

Yea that's what I was kind of afraid of because I know frog fish eyes are bigger than their belly so they almost go for anything just wanted to see if maybe anyone had any luck whit them

I've kept numerous scorpions and anglers together for months at a time and haven't really had a problem unless the angler is bigger, or the angler is much much smaller. These fish top out at around the same size 4" so it may work long term.

I figure it shouldn't be to bad because from what all IV read the frog fish I'm looking at only gets 4 inches and I believe a Fu manchu gets about 6 or 7 inches but have really small mouths

Ok I think im going to go for it if word comes to worst ill put the frog fish in my drag tank by hisself and just have him in there I don't know why but I just love the warty skin frog for some reason
