whats up every one?. My question is. Is it ok to have a frogspawn and a hammer coral near any clams, xenias and a open brain coral?. My problem is, i only have one low flow spot in my tank.. so all my LPS and Clams have to go in that area =(. Thanks, any reply would help.

in my experience it is a bit of a problem to have a euphyllia near a clam. i noticed that my tunze would cause the tentacles to do a whipping action and hit the clam hard enough to make it close up. plus i found that although with time they got used to the moving tentacles brushing them, it still irritated and stressed them. im not sure if the frogspawn do actually sting them but i know they didnt like it. if your limited on space i would just make sure the frogspawn cant actually touch the clams and you should be good.

I have my frogspawn somewhat downwind, though not badly so, of a xenia clump and it seems oblivious. It's about 3 inches removed on that side, which is the windward. The other side is the one that needs room in case it gets annoyed.

I keep my frogspawn away from all my corals. The stingers on it is strong enough to cause little red bumps all over my forearm when I touch it cleaning/working on the tank.

eh.. thats kinda scary... i was just about to get a frogspawn too!. does it hurt?. O by the way i built a " Denitrifier " with a similiar set up you showed me ( dont know if you remember xeniaMania ), using that seachem nitrate absorber stuff. Its only flowing through at 1/3 gal per hour through a gatoraid bottle =)

Yes I do JmLee, and I'll remember to let you know when I get the hang of shipping corals..:) That's a good flow rate, I hope you got to see my before and after pix that I posted on that Denitrate thread. Also, check the flow coming out of the airline tubing, it should be a solid steady stream, that's maximum output which I feel is optimal.

Oh, and it's not so much it hurts, but it gets itchy and I end up scratching it till it scabs, then it looks all nasty...

oh yeah..about the gatorade bottle, is yours submerged and is the label taken off? I worry about the glue melting and flowing into the water. Not sure of its effects, but I'm sure glue doesn't naturally occur in the ocean so....
