Any problems with heaters and acrylic ?

I have a 3/8" thick sump and a 2 -300 watt submersible heaters , was wondering if these will burn or cause potential problems down the road to my sump and also am gonna put them in the skimmer area of the sump?


Thoughts from veterans?

The sump will be fine unless it runs dry.

I have 2 in my sump and it's acrylic, no problems at all. Even if the sump went dry the heaters would might blow up before the acrylic melts. (At least one would hope so.)

from experience it doesn't take much time to blow a heater. Day one of my reefing journey, thought I was connecting the lighting just to see how things worked, smelt somethign funny and within 30 seconds... POP!!

Long story short I was prolly the first person to vacuum out the back of an aquapod and luckily the LFS was still open to grab another.

P.S. though not a veteran persay; I have been wounded in this hobby so that should count for something.
