is there any problems with using it? alge build up in the ridges, how long does it last, anything i need to know? experaince with it?

I am a fan of soft pluming.all my tanks have used some form of soft pluming.
i like the fact that i can move it out of the way to do mantaince in the sump.

Let's make sure we are talking about the right material here. Spaflex does not have "ridges"... the inside is smooth.

Flexible Ribbed Tubing - Wouldn't be caught dead using it!

Ive been using Spaflex or flexible PVC on my system for years. I have over 100' of 1" stuff running between my sump which is under my tank and chiller which is remote located in my garage about 50' away. Its buried 18" underground and has been in use since I built the tank into the house in 1997. No issues to speak of thus far. The stuff is very durable and should outlast your tank!

I will also point out that in my opinion, its a good idea to use some flexible pvc between pumps and sumps and pumps and tanks as it cuts down some of the noise and vibrations from the pumps. The alternative to that would be vinyl tubing but will not last as long as the flex PVC.

If you use the flex PVC, I would suggest using a PVC cleaner and primer before applying the PVC glue to the flex and the fittings.

amoore thanks I was thinking there where called the same.
good to know that flex ribbed tubing is no good...just what I thought.
anyone used the untraflex PVC tubbing. I had some on order for marine depo but it has been on back order for 4 months...

I've been using spaflex (( the first picture that "Amoore311" posted )) for years now -- with a mix of hard PVC. I see no reason not to use it, the longest stint for me was 7+ years without an issue.

I use them both, spaflex rocks! The other is good for gravity roles...

I use both, spa flex for pressure and ribbed for drains. Never had a problem with either. When you glue spaflex, don't twist it like you would with hard pvc pipe, just push it in firmly and hold it for 45 sec. to let it set up and seal.
