My return is 1100gph - I'm considering loctite t pieces to reach some of my dead spot out of my return.

Anyways used iwakis in the past and considering other options before i change my return pump for some extra flow with the above mentioned t diversion of flow.

Any recomendations in terms of external pump would be appreciated.
Price- any
realiability- most important.
quiet- very important.
Any suggestions-looking to be around 1500gph or more.

iwaki 70 is what I use, It has gone strong for 4 years with out even coughing, I have had to change 3 times the sequence partner in the same period of time

Rog i have the turbosea 1100- If I recall is the same but diff motors. I was thinking upgrading to the 1740.
American vs jap motors.

I have an iwaki on my skimmer.
Just out of curiosity any experience with the gen-x or other pumps.
I'm a hard sell. Always ran iwakis and turboseas.

Gasman, you keep talking about these dead spots. What does your return look like? Have you tried eductors to boost the flow/pattern? What do you have in the way of powerheads?

I am big fan of Jap motor iwaki's if you need more punch then just go with the Iwaki 100

My tank turnsover about 50-60x
4 tunzes on a controller as well as eductors

I feel the need for some more flow. recent algae issues that need to be dealt with.

I have an iwakii 55 and an iwakii 100 (both japanese motors) both seem to work great. I got both used and have not had issues.. One comment, they are very easy to break down and few parts to clean.

I am about to re-work my flow to add penductors to my main pump.

the concern with alarger pump is that it would also increase the fuge turnover and possibly create microbubbles and or other issues.

Manny, I love Iwaki only had Jap motor for many years and never had a problem however they make a particular humming noise that next to my bed gets annoying, last year I switched to a Sequence Dart very quiet until the seal started to rust and had to be replaced within a year. I want to try the Poseidon Titanium a smaller pump but supposed to be completely silent.
