How do you remove a S. Gigantea from the rock it's attached? Or, do you think shipping the anem and the attached rock is less stress on the animal? How would you package? My concern is shipping the anem with the rock may end up with the carrier mishandling and the anem being crushed by the rock. Thoughts please.

Shipping an anemone with a rock would most likely result in damage to the anemone. Putting the anemone in a very low flow area may trigger it to detach from the rock.

I've seen people massage the base of the nem(gently) until it begins to pull away at the foot. Then begin to massage the bottom of the foot. Eventually it lets go. This was done in a seperate container because the nem may release a little extra slim that could irritate the tank.

Ice, works beautifully

get a Cube of Ice, and just touch the leg of the anem for a couple of seconds, and remove the Ice it will let go. preferable RO Ice so u can leave it in the tank after if u want to .
