Anybody ever use one of these filters?

I bought a couple of these and I think they are not that great. They are weighted but just want to float like a chunk of styrofoam. I zip tied it to a heater bracket with suctions but still wants to break the surface. I should have just bought the other. Anybody have any tricks to get it to stay at the bottom... thanks...

you got to much air trapped in the foam. when you submerge them, squeeze them and it will force out more air, once the sponge fills w water -it sinks

I have one and it works fine. If it doesn't sink after you squeeze the foam then there is probably a manufacturing defect. There may be air in the plastc body where the weight is.
Like I said, mine works but I bought some from drsfostersmith that I like better because the foam stands above the bottom of the tank and it is weighted far better.
Good luck.
