Bought a Chili Coral and was wondering if anyone had info on them and possibly some pics of some. Its in a cave and has moderate flow currently. Thats all I know about Chili Coral care. Oh yeah, I also know they need frequent feedings too.
Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanx!

there was one that had been at the store i currently work at for some time before i started there back in july/august. when i started it was covered in algae, i have no idea when the last time it had been fed was either. this thing has been through quite a bit of abuse, so i longer buy that "difficult" to keep monicker. if anything this is one of the hardiest, easiest corals i have run across. i never even saw the polyps out on it until less than a week ago. i have it on the bottom of a tank with moderate to high flow and it has a decent bit of light on it, although there are several layers of egg crate for the light to go through first. ill try to get some pics of it tomorrow for you, although it has a bit more algae built up on it again. i am waiting for the snails and hermits to finish cleaning it off

Ive kept them (my tank is broken down now due to a move a twin babies)

As far as NPS go, they are pretty hardy. I fed cyclopeeze, roe, shredded fish (whatever was cheap at the store) and usually soaked everything in phyto and oyster feast. On 5-6 feedings a day it would stay open all day long.

nice, i wish the one at the store was that pretty lol. im kinda iffy about manually removing the algae as it seems when i try i pull off tiny bits of the red flesh, so i have just left it there. it was open the other day though, even with the algae. im about to head to work now, so i will try to get that pic and post it up tonight when i get home

That was a little lump of nothing on a rock that I got for nothing from the fish store. Took about 3 weeks for it to start to open like that with lots of food in the tank all the time.

It liked a strong current that was broad and consistent.

can you try a peroxide dip on that to kill the algae? I've never done it to a nps coral but maybe it is possible?

i have no idea on that one either, i havent tried anything like that yet. a good bit of that algae has been eaten off, i assume, by the snails and hermits in the tank. anyone else have thoughts on the peroxide dip? and if so what is the best way to go about it?
