Anybody have pix of "Crayola" acros?

Here's a pic of what mine looks like in my tank. Too bad my photography skills suck.

it grows terribly slow for me and I never frag it.... just trying to get it to grow up some.

mine seems a bit different than most... doesnt seem to be as shaggy.

i got it as a wildie from reefscience.com years ago... the whole colony died but two little bits that i mounted on the same rock. they stayed light purple and didnt grow for the longest time. it has taken a lot of patience to see it get as big as it is (roughly 4" across)

others i know with "crayolas" see them grow pretty fast. in most cases you would think it was my system growing it slow, but my system is pretty well known to grow everything else extremely fast. i am not sure if mine is a delsawii, plana, or something else.

i have another from joetbs... morphology looks like his... but mine stays mostly white with purple tips and is very shaggy. under actinics i get a little flourescent green to go along with the purple tips. i call it my "Chewy" acro because it is so fuzzy. Here is an older shot of it.

Got a frag from Atlantis. Colors were nice... 1" frag about a year ago I'd say now. I thought it was a gonner RTN'd bigtime and I almost threw it in the trash it was that bad. Then all of the sudden it encrusted like crazy and now is growing and coloring up nicely. I'd say its more than doubled, almost trippled in size since I've had it. I've seen a few pretty good sized ones and they are definatley a nice looking coral.

I've seen the brightest corals brown out in shipment so I wouldn't blame them. I had a coral that was super purple with green tips. I did a requascape and moved it across to the other side of the tank. The next morning it was solid brown. It's beginning to color up although very slowly.

I had that happen 2 weeks ago with an order I placed with Dr. Mac, I ordered a superman Danae and it was RED in the picture but it is only a pink color now. I think it will color up but nothing yet it has only been 2 weeks.. I don't mean to hijack this thread, I am just giving my point of view.

Nice pictures everyone, I have enjoyed them thoroughly. I have put this coral on my list of must haves... :)

thanks,

Rick

joetbs - you lost that one in the pix?

No, i lost the Desalwii that Kip has from me. I did find pics of the old mother colony & a frag. The Plana from RM is doing awesome so far. They did do fine under 20k.
